Very good insight to the amazing Yunus, micro-credit and the Grameen Bank. My only quibble is that it is, necessarily, subjective and I would like to read an objective account which also illustrates other micro-finance schemes.
This book is now available as a bookring. Please PM me if you would like to join in.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Posted to Rotewoelfin today.
Arrived two weeks ago - sorry for the late entry, but I was away from home :)
That was a really interesting book - I think I nearly never read an english book so fast. I love the way he is telling his story and his neverending ideas... No objective insight, for sure, but very, very interesting.
I forgot who is going to be the next reader - will you let me know again? :)

Going to ship it today :-)
This bookring arrived in the mail today.
I have to see how to juggle it around the other two books I'm currently reading. Probably I'll try to finish them fast and then start this one.

A really interesting book. The author has so much enthusiasm and so many ideas. It looks like his bank for the poor has been working very well. With the recent news, it would be interesting to get an update.
The ideas for the future he mentions in the last chapter seem very idealistic. Worth trying, for sure. But even though I'm usually optimistic, I doubt that things will work out like he thinks.
For one thing, he says we overcame slavery, but in fact it still exists, just in a different form. We all can make a difference, though, just as with micro credit. Learn about human trafficking, so you can recognize it if it happens in front of your nose. Buy Fair Trade. Sign petitions if you find out that companies exploit their workers or those who they contract with, so they may change things one little step at a time.
It would be great if we didn't need passports and visas for everything, but could just go to any country we wanted, but although there has been some progress within the EU and within some Asian countries, in other cases requirements have been getting tougher and governments more strict.
Reading this book not only renewed my hope for the poor (I'm a Kiva lender, so I contribute a little to micro credit), but also made me more enthusiastic for myself, too. If they can find good ways to earn money using their skills, I should be able to do the same thing.
BookAmbler will let me know whether to send to Azuki next or to someone else.

Book has arrived, thank you so much.
Really glad to learn of this book on Kiva.
Not a lot of reading time lately but will try my best to get it going soon.
11/16: Sorry I didn't realize I have this book for so long. I was travelling and didn't take it with me, as I don't want to lose it. But now I have started reading and should finish it in a week or two.

I have been a Kiva lender for a while, and this book really give me a more complete understanding of how micro loan works. I knew somewhere out there someone gather the funds and give them out to those in need, but this book shows me how the field workers work, how those in need form groups, how the money helps individuals, and what kind of obstacles there are. I truly have a better understand of the whole thing. I also used to wonder, how come lenders keep coming back for loans? Does it mean they are still having trouble and getting deeper into debt? The book answered my concern.
Thank you so much for sharing this book. Salvami is travelling now and she asked me to mail this to her in December.

A wonderfully welcome letter box surprise. I am an avid Kiva lender, and part of the BC team on Kiva. I have read Bank of Bob, but not this book which is acknowledged as being written by the father of Micro finance.
This will also help with the 666 challenge so a perfect double whammy.
