AKA I Am the Messenger

cover:
Meet Ed Kennedy - cab driving prodigy, pathetic card player and useless at sex. He lives in a suburban shack, shares coffee with his dog, the Doorman, and he's in nervous-love with Audrey. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence - until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery.

That's when the first ace turns up. That's when Ed becomes the messenger. Chosen to care, he makes his way through town, helping and hurting (where necessary) until only one question remains. Who's behind Ed's mission?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well-written & very easy to read. I enjoyed the conversations between The Doorman and Ed, & I agree that the dialogue was good. It didn't really catch my interest though, perhaps I was affected by the pervading apathy - I'll blame Ritchie for that, shall I? I was uninterested in Ed's 3 friends & his family for the most part.

An interesting concept and a book that I finished while relaxing one weekend. I disliked the ending, but enjoyed the mix of adventure type happenings and emotional growing.

Written by an Australian author, and featured on your wishlist, this seems an ideal book to send you as part of the Australasian sweepstake competition.

This book arrived today, in the freezing cold (daytime & still freezing around 4C).

Thank you so much for sending this book! I mean, winningva sweepstakes is wonderful, but receiving a wishlist book is absolutely awesome!
I loved The Book Thief, so I'm very curious to find out if I like this book as much.

I liked the book. Indeed easy to read, and I finished in one day.

Loved the concept, Ed receiving aces with riddles/assignments to fulfill.
I tried to imagine Doorman's smell, but I'm not sure I came close, LOL.

Of the assignments I liked Milla & Sophie the best. Richie was the least interesting character imho. I'm not sure I like the ending very much, a bit too much 'and they lived happily ever after' for my liking.

This book will be continuing its journey very soon.

Requested to be the next to have the book because I liked Markus Zusak's previous book "The Book Thief", so feltre was kind enough to pass it on. I think it'll keep me nice company on the summer holiday.
