Gives getting away from it all an entirely new meaning.
The first Emily Barr novel dragged me in unwillingly at first; the main character wasn't particularly sympathetic, and I just wanted the action to kick in. But then the main character started to accept and admit she had problems, and dammit you wanted her to do well. And then, of course, the action kicked in as well and I was hooked.
This one kind of follows the same route, the main difference being the main character has already come to terms with the bad stuff she's done when the novel starts, even if no one else has; she's getting on with her life and making quite a nice job of it too, even if she is stuck in the middle of the Australian outback.

Journal Entry 2 by minx2012 at Terminal 2 in London - Heathrow, -- Airports & Planes -- United Kingdom on Tuesday, June 22, 2004
Release planned for Monday, June 28, 2004 at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 in London, England United Kingdom.
Never has there been a more fitting book to have to get back from an ex-boyfriend!
I gave this to him eight months ago, with strict instructions that when he flew to South Africa a couple of weeks later, he was to release it at Heathrow.
We split up a couple of weeks later, and while he promised he'd release it as planned, I got the feeling he'd fail miserably.
He did.
Now, this is too good a book to leave languishing with someone like him, so I asked if and when I could have it back to release properly.
He kept saying he'd get it back to me ASAP... but would never commit to returning it, either by passing it on through friends, posting it or leaving it somewhere I could pick it up.
So after being a bit of a bitch (about time too, all things considered), I finally got my beloved book back last week - and it'll finally get the chance to run free like it should have had all those months back...
