Funnily enough, I've been meaning to read the bible for years, have it on my shelves, but am always put off by the archaic language, repetition and tiny fonts. I'm presently about half way through the book of God and so far the experience has been rewarding. Whilst not necessarily an adherent to Christianity, it makes for an interesting comparison in terms of the rise of a civilisation, and also helps contextualise current world affairs (Israel/Palestine). Thanks for leaving the book on the Art House trolley of joy. There's at least one other reader waiting for me to finish, and I can imagine a third might be interested before it goes 'wild' again.
