Based on a true story, this sweeping saga tells the tale of a working class couple in Berlin who decide to take a stand against the Nazis. The author wrote this book in twenty-four days soon after the end of World War II and his release from a Nazi insane asylum. He did not live to see its publication.

Received in the mail yesterday. Thanks for tagging me, tabby-cat-owner! I'm not sure when I'll get this read, as I keep promising other TBRs in the tag game, but it's safe until then.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Not a happy tale but thought provoking. The Quangel's little resistance did not amount to much and there is a feeling of hopelessness about it although several characters say you must do something even if it doesn't make a difference. For the individuals involved, they kept their dignity in the face of evil. I hope never to have to face choices like that.
