If Her Majesty were to take up reading as a serious hobby how would that turn out? Bennett has a good ear for voices and I think he has the Queen and Prince Philip down pretty well. Some parts just make you laugh out loud, like the corgies taking revenge for the loss of play time and the prime minister being handed books on his way out, but the bit I think Mr. Bennett created from personal experience is the reception for the writers where the Queen can't fit into any of the conversations because the authors are so wrapped up in their own concerns. It was a good read and I liked the ending, but I still refuse to tackle Proust.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Taking this to meetup. If no one takes this it will be left on the book rack by the front door. Why not join us for coffee, a piece of fabulous orange cake or whatever and some conversation.

This looks like a fun read. Picked up at the Lower Mainland Bookcrossing Meetup last night.

Loved this - except certainly not the apparent ending (and perhaps not for the reason you might think). Almost too quick a read, drolland meaningful.
And in case you are wondering, I did try Proust, but am saving the rest of him for my old age when I will (may?) have more time for reflection.

Oh this book made me laugh. I wanted it to be longer, but then maybe it would not have been as perfect. Witty, smart and very unexpected.
