R.J. Frith is the winner of Tor UK's War of the Words competition which was run in conjunction with SciFiNow magazine in 2009 to find a new writing talent.

Spaceship captain Frank Pak is hired to recapture young fugitive Jeven Jones. The job is complicated by Jones’s past as an experimental subject, and his present as a revolutionary pawn. This action-packed space opera kept me hooked until about three-quarters through, when I realised that I’d have to wait for a sequel for any resolution.

I'm going to take this along to tonight's Cafe Sci (Michael Hawkins of the Edinburgh Royal Observatory on "Where does the universe come from?"). I figure there'll be at least one other SF fan in the audience...
