Read it and loved it; now it's off to Stoxasths' hands to keep him great company. :-)

I really had no idea who Dara was before Luz de Luna told me about him when she was reading the book and enjoying it. So, at that point I knew that I would be next in line to read the book. And I was right, the book came to my hands and now, an hour after I finished it in a bar with a glass of wine (to honour Dara’s method), I can absolutely say that this book is amazing!
I have never read anything like that, a book by a comedian that writes not only about his tour throughout Great Britain, but also about the English, their mentality, their theatres and halls and pubs, their jokes and eccentricities, their idea about the quality of life they lead, etc. It was a proper tour around so many cities as well as a tour in the English mentality and attitude on life and Englishness. Dara must be one of the cleverest writers I’ve ever read, hilarious when he wants and always to the point. I really liked the sincerity in various occasions, like when he just couldn’t find the right answer or when he was not in his best.
What I most loved though, was the fact that I could really see how much research and work was done for this book, what a beautiful mix of history and humour it was. From historic research about cities and theatres to gallops and surveys about how good or bad life is in Great Britain, Dara made (because he didn’t just write it, he put so much of himself and work in it) a book that’s a treasure, a priceless guide for anyone that wants to know more about the English and the way they see themselves.
I also enjoyed the trip Dara took me around places in England, theatres, little towns, their people and the weird facts and stories that dwell in those areas. It was a comedian’s point of view and that’s something we rarely have the chance, the luck to see; comedians are usually on stage, they are the centre of attention, but how often have we wondered how the comedian views the audience, what he thinks of those people and how hard it is every night to perform in such a high level.
Last, I can’t forget to mention that I was happy and relieved to finally read the Tayto story, although I knew I wouldn’t get it.
Thank you Luz de Luna for another treasure, for a beautiful book and reading experience! :)
