After having done a fair amount of teeth gnashing while reading the book before this one - also a historical romance - it was a delight to submerse myself in Sherry Thomas' prose, and relatively original plot. So many romances choose the same basic story lines and are often only kept distinct by the style of writing. Here the style would distinguish the story, but I do believe this is the first time I've read one with the hero posing as an idiot. (Vague echoes of Loretta Chase's Mr Impossible are making themselves heard in the back of my mind, but still, this is different). There's a bit of "it takes one to know one" in this story, and Ellie's foray into jam-making, although not out-lined in detail, was spot-on.
So far I've enjoyed everything I've read by this author.
Having just now read a few other critiques of this in Goodreads, I'm wondering about the spoiler for Private Arrangements. Unfortunately I think I've already traded that one so can't read it again and find out.
