This short first-hand account of events in Poland since the emergence of Solidarity in 1980 is based on the 5 months the author spent in the country. He travelled widely and spent a great deal of time in Solidarity's national headquarters.

What a dumb Friday, sun and shine and all the wind too. loitering near Union bulding,whwre the union's presence has gone. roughly. I'm taking this motherufcker with me to Austin, Texas in December, let them oil slick t-rex's handle it.
Found it in Austin on the shelf of 21st Street Co-op's ramshackle library. Must have been one of you crazy Kiwi hostelers who left it behind. I held onto it for a year and took it with me to Poland in May 2005, where I finally decided to read it. Much more interesting read when you're actually here! Guess I'll leave it somewhere in Gdansk for another interested traveler.

I found this book in Gdansk and am reading it now in Croatia as I am on vacation. Decent read. I hope to leave the book here in Croatia....
