This was required reading for me in the 6th grade or so. I really did not like the book then--perhaps because it was required and we had to read it aloud every day. However, it was a Newbery Medal Winner, so someone who doesn't have such bad memories of it might like it. It was written for a pre-teen audience. The book is about a 13 year old girl (Dicey) and her siblings who lose their parents and have to go live with their grandmother. Dicey is used to taking care of her younger siblings & has a hard time letting go of that. She also has some problems of her own at school. This is part of a series of books about the family.
To be sent soon to BC'er appaloosatb in Minnesota. It was on her wish list:)
This arrived in the mail awhile ago and was snatched up by my mom before I could so much as open the cover! It was a "can't believe you didn't read it!" books suggested to me by my AP English teacher - supposedly one I shouldn't have missed, even though it's meant for a younger audience. Hopefully mom will finish it someday soon so I can see if it holds up to all the talk! :-)

*sigh* This book was taken out of the bookbox, which unfortunately never did get off the ground due to problems with mailing restrictions. Sorry, little book. I will try to find it a good home!
Thanks for sending this!
