Leacock (1869-1944) being the Canadian equivalent of Mark Twain, was a must read for us in high school and college. He was also at one time a professor at my university (McGill). His comedy/satire is somewhat dated by its age, but he's still on target about a lot of things and it is fun to read and look back at his era.
