NASA astronaut Reid Malenfant does not believe extraterrestrials exist, until Nemoto, a researcher on the Moon, discovers evidence of alien intelligence in the Solar System. There are signs that this intelligence (called Gaijin) are destroying worlds and are approaching Earth. Malenfant sets off alone in a salvaged antique space craft to make contact with them.
