Absolutely loved this book and it has really changed my opinion about street people and the Big Issue magazine which I have never bought or read in my life. I didn't even know it had to be bought first by the seller before it could be sold on. I never even gave it a thought. Sounds a hopeless task if everybody's like me!

Back to the book. I could really engage with James and thought he came across as a really nice guy with great empathy. Personally, I am more of a dog person and am not usually over keen on cats (especially when they mess in my garden!!!) but Bob sounds absolutely gorgeous. Almost human! I read the book very quickly, as couldn't put it down.

I even had to look him up on You Tube and viewed many of his subsequent interviews on the streets and on TV. I had never seen any of these before. Had vaguely heard of the book but because it was about a cat I wasn't interested. It was only a friend of mine in Melbourne who enthused about this book that prompted me to buy it about 5 months ago (along with the DVD of the film adaptation which I have yet to watch) and had only just got around to dusting it down off the shelf.

I have also now downloaded the sequel onto my kindle. A bargain at 99p!!!

I enjoyed the film so I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It really does help you understand what homelessness is really like. In fact, I changed my behaviour so that if anyone asks me for help, I at least look them in the eye, talk and smile. It’s so easy to dehumanise people.

The story is so full of hope. It’s a joy to read.

It’s now on its travels in the Easter 2024 RABCK
