A 'boy's-own' adventure story packed with heroics, cunning and scientific achievement. Conan Doyle's characters and descriptions of the 'lost world' are rich and believable.
A few phrases show the writing to be a bit dated (it is was written almost 100 years ago), but nevertheless it is quite thought-provoking from a scientific point of view. It's a good choice for a mass read to celebrate the anniversaries of the births of Conan Doyle (150th) and Charles Darwin (200th).
