Happy is the Bride: My least favorite. Rich girl gets jilted twice, and is considered now jinxed by the town. All along her dear 'friend' Mason is there to listen. He loves her and she's oblivious to her attachment to him. But he has a limp and isn't rich and her parents don't approve. Now that she's 'on the shelf', she decides to propose to Mason after betting with her cousin. He accepts. Many mishaps (blamed on the 'jinx') happen that could prevent the wedding, but the most damaging of all is when Mason finds out about the bet. (4)
Promise Me: A little better, but not great. Alice has been jilted, then eloped, and then deserted. Ruined in the eyes of her family, she ends up in a home for fallen women. Years go by, she now runs her own sanctuary for women. A local young doctor falls in love with her, but she spurns (well she tries to) his advances because she believes that he's too good for her, and she is still married to the bounder that deserted her. (6)
Silver and Satin: The best of the three. Mary's sister gets engaged while Mary's out of town caring for her SIL and new niece. The groom to be just wants a nice girl from a solid family to start his own family with as he was an orphan who has struck it rich. He proposes too quickly. He finds himself falling in love with the older plainer sister, but won't break his word to the younger sister, even though they find they have little in common. (7)
