It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

I was a little disappointed in this book considering all of the hype it has received. It was an easy read and pleasant enough... it just didn't seem to effect me at all.
The book was our book club's selection of the month. Perhaps I will have more appreciation for it following our group discussion.

I just returned home from a work trip, and it's late at night, but then I found this book waiting for me, and it made me soooo happy! I've been reading some of the books in this serie, and I really loved them, so I'm sure I'll love this one too. Thank you very much AmberMoon for your bookcrossing kindness!

I just finished reading this book today, and I really loved it. The atmosphere in these books of this serie is just amazing, all the peace and heat of Africa, and the relaxed way of living gives the reader such a joy! This book was a bit different from the other books I've read in this serie, I'm not sure if I liked the start so much. It was about the family history of Mma Ramotswe, but I think it somehow broke the story. Still my favourite Mma Ramotswe book is "Morality for Beautifull Girls", but this one was a lovely one too. Here's some highlights from this book:

"She was a good detective, and a good woman. A good woman in a good country, one might say. She loved her country, Botswana, which is a place of peace, and she loved Africa, for all its trials. I am not ashamed to be called an African patriot, said Mma Ramotswe. I love all the people whom God made, but I especially know how to love the people who live in this place. They are my people, my brothers and sisters. It is my duty to help them to solve the mysteries in their lives. That is what I am called for."

...

"The only thing that makes me sad is that I shall be leaving Africa when I die. I love Africa, which is my mother and my father. When I am dead, I shall miss the smell of Africa, because they say that where you go, wherever that may be, there is no smell and taste."

...

"She stopped. It was time to take the pumpkin out of the pot and eat it. In the final analysis, that was what solved these big problems in life. You could think and think and get nowhere, but you still had to eat your pumpkin. That brought you down to earth. That gave you a reason for going on. Pumpkin."

"Mma Ramotswe smiled at her old friend. You can go through life and make new friends every year –every month practically- but there was never any substitute for those friendships of childhood that survive into adult years. Those are the ones in which we are bound to one another with hoops of steel.

She reached out and touched Dr Maketsi on the arm, gently, as old friends will sometimes do when they have nothing more to say."

Thank you once more AmberMoon for this wonderfull reading experience, I hope to share it with more bookcrossers. In fact, there's at least two local bookcrossers with whom we've been talking about this book, maybe one of them wish to read this next. I'll bring this book to our next BC-meeting.

Katyan gave me this book (and a beautiful postcard with a rose picture) in our book club meeting today. What a lovely surprise! It is the Day of Book & Rose today in Finland, so this was the most appropriate gift. :) Thank you so much, katyan!

It's been very warm here in Finland for a while, and I've been lying on the beach and reading this book. I guess it is even hotter in Botswana, but anyway, it was easy to get into the right mood for the story because of the temperature. :)

I liked the book, but, like AmberMoon, I don't get what all the hype is about. Maybe the other books of the series are better? This was a nice and enjoyable read, but not as great as I'd expected. Maybe I'll try another Mma Ramotswe book someday.

Took this book with me to my parents cottage and read it in between picking blueberris. It was nice to read of Africa and the mentality out there while being surrounded by relaxing mood and nature. In ways this reminded me of Nancy Drew or The Famous Five -books with its warmness and life affirming positivity. But sill I would have hoped for something more... But a good book to be taken with on holidays!

Think I will pass this onto a friend in Savonlinna.
