2004 Forge paperback of the 2003 International Bestseller entry in the First North Americans Series. In this one, 4,000 years ago in the American South, a teen boy is thrust into becoming leader of America's first city, with inherited wives who despise him, and assassins lurking everywhere. This copy came from The Paperback Trade in Redding California, some hundreds miles north of here. I found this copy last week in the Lamson Little Free Library in Castro Valley.
I can let this go after I read:
1990 People of the Wolf [read 2024]
Edit May 9, 2024: This was good, but I just skimmed to end for time. It runs long. I currently have this ranked at #7643 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
