I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this novel but it was a great story. It begins with a family staying in an Air BnB house in the countryside outside New York City. The owners turn up on the second evening of the holiday, saying that something has happened in the city. There is a power blackout and no TV or phones are working, but there is no information about what has actually happened. The suspense and sinister feeling throughout the book are so well done. I loved the wee glimpses into the future.
